My friend took his main to Nagrand before unsubbing for the final time. Took this shot of his final view. (Story in comments)

A month ago, a good friend of mine told us that his current 30-day subscription to WoW would be his last. We were sad to see him go, but we were determined to make it a fun month. We leveled up some new characters from scratch, explored some of our favorite zones, and tried to recreate some of our favorite and most nostalgic WoW experiences. This past weekend, we decided to spend three nights running through as many of the raids as we could, starting in Vanilla and working all the way up to Draenor.

On our first night, we did Blackwing Lair, Molten Core, Ruins and Temple of Ahn’Qiraj, Gruul’s Lair, Magtheridon’s Lair, Serpentshrine Cavern, Black Temple, and Karazhan. The next night, we did Battle for Mount Hyjal, The Sunwell, Tempest Keep, Naxxramas, Eye of Eternity, Ruby and Obsidian Sanctums, Trial of the Crusader, Ulduar, Onyxia’s Lair, and Icecrown Citadel. Then last night, we did Blackwing Descent, Dragon Soul, Firelands, Throne of the Four Winds, Bastion of Twilight, Heart of Fear, Mogu’shan Vaults, Terrace of Endless Spring, Throne of Thunder, and finally Siege of Orgrimmar.

We did them all on the hardest/largest raid size available, and we got tons of amazing tier pieces and weapons for transmogging. Every night, we turned in all our tier gear from the night before and made ourselves a new transmog from the content we’d just finished (e.g. last night I wore a full Cata-set for the MoP content we did). We had an absolute blast. There’s still a few challenges to be found in that old content, even for a group of 3 or 4 characters that outlevel it significantly (I’m looking at you, Lei Shen).

It was great to re-explore all that content, get some awesome gear, remember all the mechanics again (a few of which we actually got to see before killing the bosses in record time) and to get to do it with a friend who we’re not going to be able to play WoW with anymore. At the end of the third night, we flew out to Nagrand, took our friend to an island in the sky, and said our goodbyes.

Just before we left, I took this screenshot of his character’s eternal view.

This is beautiful and sad at the same time. Wishing all the best to your friend!

Can we get a serious answer to why he can't play anymore? It's a pretty good story, but I wana know what all the effort was put into it for
