Best bit of war mode is getting the PvP talents while leveling. Combustion every 2nd pull is kinda dumb.
Rewards or not, I am really looking forward to this. I suck at, but have always enjoyed PvP, and BG's are only so much fun.
It's being tuned to be a compensation for time lost to PvP, rather than as an incentive to lure PvE players to join in. Genuinely wouldn't be surprised to see it drop further.

People seem to think War Mode is going to make XP faster solely because of the XP. That ain't it.
The reason why your leveling is cut in half is because you have access to PvP talents and using them against PvE designed mobs. People are literally doubling their DPS, or with group and the right auras tripling their damage against mobs, or taking incredibly powerful traits that give them so much insane AoE. The open world was not designed for this in mind, the PvP talents are designed for PvP combat.
Was the 15% XP nice? Sure, a 5% nerf sucks. But everyone I talk to on the beta say that the XP is so much less significant for leveling, as compared to the access to PvP talents.
I'm calling it now - Everyone on a PvE server right now that's excited about it and is going to use it. You'll turn it off, after a week or two.
It's been like this for about a week now. Or, at least, that's when I noticed it. It was honestly needed.
My first run through I finished all quest line in Vol'dun and I left the zone at level *116* !
I finished Nazmir and I was 120 without ever doing a quest that wasn't necessary in Zuldazar. My second time leveling it was very similar.
Third time I went through I did it with the 10% buff. When I got to 120 I had finished all of Vol'dun and Zuldazar, and I had half of Nazmir done. They tuned it pretty well, as it seems like if you turned off Warmode you can finish all 3 zones and be 120.
I'll be using it on my first 2 characters because I plan to level back to back, but after that is done I'll be turning it off because I imagine by the time I get halfway through the second one people will be starting to move into enemy territory with their new 120's to grief levelers.
Has been 10% for weeks, stealth nerf presumably to counter all the whining.
I'm assuming though that the PvP talents that will now be usable in the open world won't be usable in a dungeon/raid instance though right? That'll be a bit jarring...
Im glad im going rogue in BFA so i can have this activated all the time without being griefed
Remove flying from War Mode!
It could be 1000% and I still wouldn't turn it on.
Hm... Increasing quest rewards by up to 10%. Is that different from before?
I feel like 10% is not worth it for the amount of time you might lose getting ganked while leveling. Especially on release.
wish it came in Legion, so it would ment faster leveling and lot of free honor meanwhile on my affli lock.
a whole 10% not worth

sorry i'm a little confused on this, 10% increased quest rewards includes xp even though xp isn't mentioned in the description correct?
No Guts, No Glory
The PvP talents are what make it better for world content. For example, Creeping Venom (http://www.wowhead.com/spell=198092/creeping-venom) refreshes constantly because NPCs keep moving when you run away. Infinite duration dot for the cost of one finisher. If the enemy is vulnerable to slows, it dies.
Finally. Just the scaling needs to be fixed and I think WPvP will be amazing.
doesnt matter, people will play in war mode for the increased exp. /s
I may be missing something here because I've just known from the beginning that I was going to have it on but... what changed?
This has been the case for many days already.
I'm not going to be able to level the first week of the expansion so there's no way in hell that i'm turning it on when I level. It'll be me at 110-119 vs every 120 out there. Funk dat.
It’s been 10% for awhile now.
PvP talents in the outdoor world is pretty cool.
Idk I’m going to be in war mode for the entire expansion so.
Doesn't matter. At this point I would use it if there was no XP bonus. Those extra talents are just too juicy to pass up.
I noticed how it says "up to" does that mean it varies or is that poor wording?
If Blizzard does not balance horde:alliance ratio on some servers FA is going to suck.
When you're so desperate to get people back into world PVP that you have to offer goodies upfront but know deep down the players will turn that shit off after gank squads roam the zones picking of players that aren't playing meta-friendly classes
Not falling for it tbh. Legion's world PVP was a nightmarish pit that utterly destroyed any concept of balance the game has ever since. I figure Legion won't be any different.
I’m in the other boat, can’t wait for this so I can run around with war mode off and be left alone. Always hated being on a pvp server but, ya know, friends.
Can’t wait for all those gankers having to deal with each other while I happily run around in peace.
Those crates that come from the sky. Do they only appear for wargame enabled players?
Even if i would want to use it, i cant use it. On my server, the horde/alliance ratio is about 1:80. If i go for world quests right now, and also at the start of legion, i got most of the elite kills and wq boss kills only because there were alliance players around. I can probably count it on one hand when horde outweighed alliance at these elites.
And even if our realm pool has a better ratio, it is just not worth it. It would still be at least 5-10 alliance players for every horde player.
I'm still bent out of shape about getting one less choice than what we currently have. Brambles was literally the only dps my resto could do but in bfa I can't afford to take it 😢
I don't think it needed a nerf. Any incentive to get people on war mode was welcome to get a decent community going
Even if they make it down to 5%, it unlocks pvp talents which are sick for leveling, fire mage has greater pyro that deals 35% max hp in damage, more firblasts etc.
I am excited for it non the less. I was doing some WQs yesterday and ran into another fire mage. He was Horde and seeing it was a pvp WQ I attacked him. The fight was long due to healing caused by shimmer. When I nearly had him he jumped from a cliff with Slow Fall . The PVP turned off for him and I couldn't kill him.
He came back and I nearly had him again, but rince and repeat he just jumped off.
I am so excited to have world pvp without being on a pvp server. Talents and XP bonuses regardless.
So I could potentially finish all my quests in PvE mode and then switch to War Mode to turn them in and get more XP?
I love this. Dueling and world PvP used to be my favourite activities, and we might see significantly more WPVP with this. I only see one "problem" with this; On launch, we'll have PvE players crying that they're getting camped. When asked why they don't turn off War Mode, they'll claim it's mandatory.
Trust me. It'll happen. I've got no doubts.
Did everyone miss two very important words : "up to".
I really don't think this will apply to opening week BFA.
So how does this affect pvp servers that are already war mode enabled so to speak. Are the new zones pve with the war mode to enable pvp? Or in pvp servers it will just be enabled by default?
Sigh.... why do they keep trying to cram wpvp down people's throats.
War Mode is such a brilliant addition. Group people who want to pvp together on one shard while giving everyone the option to just do pve and not get your lowly alt ganked by some max-level if you're trying to make it to the next level. You're not "stuck" on a pvp realm your friends once played on, etc. So smart by whoever thought of this!
I wonder what blizzard will do when the majority of players use war mode for more abilities.
Hopefully they see the err of their ways in their persistence in pruning.
am I misunderstanding the whole PvP talent part of this? are we going to be stronger vs mobs with war mode on because of PvP talents or will they only apply when we are attacking actual players?
bunch of my guild is taking days off for launch we plan to make 5 mans teams to level in war mode and level till we hit 120 or pass out the first day.
OH it is ON.
So glad my server is 98% players of one faction so I can enjoy these without getting butt-sexed by people who rushed to max level faster than I
Because PvE players can't stand PvP being a thing in WoW......
Pve'rs ruining more stuff, nice.
damn whiners .... I would rather have the pvp server we have now and gank them and corpse camp them, they get to opt out and even then they keep on complaining...
I hope they will buff pvp talents because most of them suck right now.
That will probably kill it. Nobody it doing it for 10%.
"10% more quest rewards", can that be currency/items aswell etc? Not only experience.
The login screen reminds me of the cutscene we have at the very begining, The orc, the human, both fighting until the infernal rain.
And at the end of this cutscene, both of warriors were dispatched on the ground, like in this login screen.
Basically this is the nearest we'll get to Warcraft 4 boys...
They even put in the war fronts as an RTS play-style callback. Ahh one can only dream for a real sequel.
Makes me wanna play wc3 haha
Yeah... if only the story would be WC3 worthy.
I started replaying that a few months ago and dropped off. I may need to finish that up before BfA.
This is why I love this new login screen so much. Right in the childhood.
That was the first thing I had to think of when seeing the new login screen. I think it's both the persepctive and the general theme, being the desolate aftermath of a battle.
I honestly wish they had made it 3D. While i like the art, doing 4D just feels..... cheap.
as soon as I looked at it, I could hear the sounds the chains make every time when the menu UI was changing. ah nostalgia
I like the color palette of warcraft 4 more.
I remember loading up the game for the first time and thinking how amazing that menu screen was
WoW should have ended with Legion. BFA should have been WC4 and they should have resolved to Old God stuff that appears in WC4: BFA in WoW 2, complete with a new engine.
Took me a moment to take in the similarities... awesome!
Like, it's even the same sword :DNice little easter eggy thing~
It's a little hard to going back to considering the horde is the biggest threat when I've killed dragons, old gods, and Titans.
I think in the quest to make us feel like badasses, blizzard set itself up for failure.
I hope the new old gods wins and we get a blank slate..
Nice copy paste blizz0rd. Gosh!
Hey, who told her she could stop tending my gardens?! I got flowers to grow!
So good to see her again. Was a nice surprise seeing her in Draenor as well. Really happy to hear that she got out of that Garrison.
I'm still sad that she doesn't seem interested in mingling with Horde players. :(
After all we'd been through in EPL, Fiona. You said a Hunter was just what you needed for your caravan, and I was there for you. Not once did I complain about sitting on the back of the carriage, or having to crawl through that spider infested cave. I did it because I thought we were friends.
Oh well. Still excited to see her again on my Alliance characters. Fiona is one of my favorites. :D
Am I the only one saying Belarus all the time?
I'm 100% certain Blizzard doesn't change the Tauren totems out of spite.
Why is he mad tho?
Good shit, yeah that's good shit. I like that shit.(Chorus: Good Shit)
I don't get it...
What did they do to Groot!?
It's just an unanimated background prop though.
Probably similiar to 'my goldfish is on fire'
I was playing wow less than 24 hours after my daughter was born. Was running Drak'Tharon Keep which was current content at the time. Mentioned in chat that my kid had just been born and caught a bunch of flak for playing so soon after the birth of my kid. Tried explaining that some newborns... you know... sleep.
Playing Eve Online back before they let you queue skills more than 24 hours in advance, and a corp mate hops on comms real quick to deliver this:
"Hey, guys, I can't stick around because my wife's water just broke. But I have to update my skill queue first."
Needless to say we never let him live that down.
I agree, kids are a nuisance. Its better to be childless - more time for raiding.
My friend uses "brb, local militia is raiding the village"... usually it makes the group sit in silence
I once had a tank tell me he had to leave because his kid drank windex. Um, you should take care of that instead of telling us.
I was playing WoW right before my son Arthas was born.
I know it's a joke but I didn't think LFD was "the wow life"
I played while in labor with my second child. Nothing like LFG to make you forget about the pain.
To be fair, the first child usually takes quite a while to be born, he'd even have time to stop by dunkin' donuts, and even if it isn't the firstborn, the others are less important. /s
RFK is serious business
My buddy had an old friend that was like this.On raid day he got on and said “hey guys, Im going to get married tonight”. He was the RL so everyone was like Gratz but at the same time like damn, the raids not happening, but he assured us he’d be online for it.
Also sometimes he’d be online and not talking, and be in some obscure place. Usually it was his wife farming fish for him while he was st work.
Always felt bad for her lol
I remember seeing a screenshot where a kid said he wants to run a dungeon/raid quickly because he has an exam in 10 minutes - and not any exam: it's the Chinese college entrance exam. Regrettably I can't find the picture now.
True story: I had to leave in the middle of raid to deliver my child. Water broke during a bio break.
Gotta say, this happened to me once during an instance in Burning Crusade. DPS goes afk and says “brb, wife giving birth.”
Good to see it’s still happening.
Seriously. The hospital has wi-fi. Just hop on a laptop there and play through the birth, you casual.
i mean....i can expect shitposting in this lull we're in.
but we couldn't even get a mildly fancy shifpost (my on the spot portmanteau of shitpost / gifpost) from you E&L?
i am sad
'Cat ate the TV' is my favourite.
WoW is love, WoW is life
If true, the wife is in for a rude awakening with this guy.
I mean, with WiFi and mobile hotspots now it's easier. My kid was just born 2 months ago and I just brought my Laptop to the hospital. Work for AT&T so I have an unlimited hotspot device, played while Mom and boy were napping.
Divorce lawyer just pm'd me, brb.
I mean he's not wrong
Who? The guy that took the bait?
In his defense... it takes hours and hours for those things to pop out usually. When my wife told me her water broke at 3 am I went back to sleep, woke up 4 hours later, took a shower, had breakfast and still had plenty of time for us to drive tot the hospital.
I mean in all fairness, how many of his baby momma kids birthdays does he have to be at?
I had a guy in a dungeon that told us his stitches just bursted and his wrist/arm was bleeding, we all told him to leave and get help but he insisted on how it was fine and that he could finish the dungeon.
He is about to grow another finger?
I usually say, hurry up, i have to wash my hamster. People then ask why. I reply with it helps them not to bite.
I agree, what is wrong with this guy? Clearly the wife and birthing can wait.
My GM's first son being born killed our guild. I'm never going to let that kid live it down.
Yeah, he wasn't truthful. However in the small chance he is, that child is going be neglected.
Somehow I can relate to this guy. :/
Every guild needs a guy this committed.
Yes, don't be that guy asking why is he on wow...
I missed one raid night when my first was born.
Back BC I was a guild officer and one of our healers mid raid starts laughing. Her husband put a sticky note on her screen that said, "I miss you." I kicked her out of the raid and the guild. Told her she could come back after she went on a date with him.
I mean it's probably better to be there with her, but if for whatever reason that's not important he likely has time. Labor can take awhile.
he is that kind of orc
Who, in their right mind, think this is real?
I mean to be fair, "his girl" had to call to update him, which means he wasn't nearby and wasn't needed for transportation purposes.
And if she just called, I'm going to assume labor started pretty recently, which could take hours.
I'm gonna give him this one.
*BE this guy
Who cares. Could be the 4th kid. Shit after 2 kids its becomes a fuck ton easier.
Also we dont know their situation so get off your high horse
OP must be drax from the guardians.
Like this green guy? Totally agree.
i'm so pissed off knowing that people like this exist can possibly exist. i remember being kid, our dog bit me and when i asked help to my brother, he said he couldn't leave his dungeon cause he waited half an hour for it. he was fucking addicted as a kid. i didn't play at the time but now i'm sure i'll never let this game take over my life like this pic (if true) or my stupid brother
I agree, people shouldn't post such disgusting TMI aspects of their personal lives in a public chat.
Back during TBC when I was in my first guild, the GM came on to announce to everyone that his child had been born, that there was complications with the birth and that his wife (an office in the guild) had almost bled to death. When people asked wouldn't it be better to be nearby at the hospital as it wasn't all out of the clear yet and he gave a pretty similar response.

Gosh, I was hoping that novel generator would let me write my own Murloc erotica. What a letdown.
Sounds like your on a really overpopulated realm
I haven't seen this since MoP.
Amen. Ridiculous on stormrage.
Time to upgrade from a toaster
Probably because it's Tuesday.
seems to be a problem on your end buddy
As a mage main I don’t understand the issue
As a collector, I think this would be a really cool thing to do and also a great way to make some profit perhaps. 10/10 design
I've always wanted them to make Darkmoon Faire card decks to encourage more collectors to obtain them or buy them on the Auction House. This is fantastic.
edit: on the topic of the Darkmoon Faire; Blizzard, please do something with the tents! Make a Hearthstone tournament tent or something.
all cards from fishing only.
Since people will inevitably ask:
How is Shadow looking in BfA?
We have a lot more aoe and look better for questing and m+.
Our utility and survivability is worse.
We've lost all of the speed of Legion. It's replaced by a noninteractive, slow, clunky playstyle with several conflicting design elements.
We've lost a lot of class identity, have many outdated talents, a super weak Void Form, and have no idea what direction we're headed.
The devs told us pretty much "deal with it" until 8.1 at the earliest.
I don't understand why they got rid of Shadow's g o f a s t playstyle. That's what made shadow shadow, dammit. It's like they took the DoTs from Aff. Or Chaos Bolt from Destro.
Got back to the game after 7 years because of the legion shadowpriest, think i'm aus again.
Honestly I was never a fan of legion spriest or voidform. I preferred orbs even though they're bland, I enjoyed passive VE even though it didn't require thought, and I miss halo/cascade and devouring plague. And glyph of dark archangel. Those were things that made me want to be an spriest in the first place. But I stuck it out all xpac because I made a commitment beforehand. With bfa on the horizon, and spriest design being legion diet (a skeleton I didn't even like in the first place) I think it's just time for me to move on - not to a new class but a new game
i love shadow priest class fantasy but hate the gameplay
I like the changes in BFA for shadow, and disc also
Does Shadow finally get a decent AoE?
I main a different class or spec every xpac, seems I picked a good one in Legion for Shadow Priest
Gee, that almost looks like a round of Shaman Roshambo. Only yours involves getting kicked in the crotch less.
Leveling it on beta now. Best Spriest has been in years for me.
Good for you princess
just fucking put shadow orbs back in. The VF/insanity mechanic is flashy and cool on paper (which honestly seems like the entire MO of the current class design team) but its a fucking nightmare to balance and has resulted in the current state of the spec.
As a Shaman main, these posts about Shaman are scaring me, although its nothing new considering Shaman + start of new expansion never mixes.
His main's a shaman, it's practically suicide!
The shamen, women, & children are physical manifestations of negative emotions — such as doubt, despair, fear, hatred, or anger
I play Shaman and Paladin.
It's honestly starting to feel personal at this point.
“It’s over Shamans! I have the high ground!” - Obi-Wan Kionobi
This is what happens when you roll passive % boosts into a temporary item (like artifacts), when they're gone and nothing replaces them it destroys the class.
The old talent trees were a mess of passive increases, but at least they followed you between expansions... but at least the baseline of the class at each max level and beyond didn't feel like utter shite.
Was thinking of playing ele in BFA, now not so sure :(
SHAMAN! I KILLED HIS TOTEMS! THEN I SMASHED HIS VIABILITY IN THIS THIS!!
He mains a shaman too I believe so he cant butcher them too bad
Its funny because his main is a Shaman. Theres another prequel joke in there about a Shaman killing all of his fellow Shaman somewhere...
I just miss the non-maelstrom version of shamans, especially Enhance. I hate that every DPS seems to need to have a builder and a spender, if I wanted to play warrior I would.
I know Ion can't choose the way he looks but.. I've never seen anyone seem so much like they hate their job than when I look at his face.
He looks like he applied to run Overwatch but accidently checked World of Warcraft instead.
Every one keeps saying Shamans are bad... I think ele and resto are fine. Not looking at numbers since it's beta, more like play style.
Note I don't know much about enh, but apparently defensives and play style are no good.
Still not enough outrage as during the lead up to Legion, when all three specs were revamped, including the complete overhaul of Enhance.
A crossover meme? Is that legal?
