The meme is that Russian public transportation is always full of elderly women or "babki" who rush into the bus/tram/metro and take all the seats with incredible speed, like it's the matter of life and death. Their rally point is usually unknown but most people tend to agree it's either marketplace or hospital, sometimes cemetery.
whats the build time on a babushka?

The fourth slot's frame being rotated hurts me.
Man that looks badass.
Ahh... metro station building grandmas asking random people for momey because jesus
Good thing there’s no babushka rush in SC2. 12-pool would become a warm memory from distant peaceful past...
“Why skulls tho”
The Inquisition of the Glorious Emperor of Mankind approves.
Stukov's skull I actually think was fine since it's a marriage between his SC64 and SC1 concepts, it seemed like Remastered was trying to combine the different styles between unit, portrait and cinematic. For context here is his concept art for StarCraft 64 where he was reinfested. The skull kind of worked there since it both worked as a reminder of the fascist UED but also as a sign of being "undead." That was the basis they used for his SCII appearance, so much like Raynor's "more SCII" look it draws more from concept art of the time than anything else.
DuGalle's skull belt looks a bit silly though, even if we never saw DuGalle's lower torso before. Makes him look like a pirate, not really matching his elegant classic admiral style. I can't imagine him getting his simple pressed uniform ready and deciding to put on the massive skull belt to tie it all together. I get trying to drive home the fascism comparison with the skulls but it really didn't work here.
It does lead me to one of the big letdowns of Remastered though, where they simultaniously took no risks and did tiny changes like this that didn't really fit. Cool tiny easter eggs in the new visuals like putting Michael Liberty or Horner in the background (characters who were introduced in the media around SC1's release for those people who want to go "NO SC2 STUFF EVER!") were a missed opportunity for longtime fans, and fixing errors in art design like Artanis's nerve cords being cut (which I get because they couldn't have it changed in the cinematics) or Raszagal having nerve cords (which nobody would have complained about fixing since her art was vague and final product already very different) were missed for the sake of purity, but small things like Raynor's armor color, the dropship portrait, and these skulls were added that seemed out of place.
I'm normally ok with these sorts of changes and even encourage them, but when the big focus is on purity toward the original over all else the small impurities stand out. I will say having just ranted all that 90% of the art of Remastered's units and assets were fantastic and I love the new graphics.
Next time on "lore nerd complains about tiny details in a remaster pretty much exclusively made for the competitive side:" why did dark origin not get the comic green text interludes complain complain complain
"Yarrr!!! Ye be dealing not with one of yer ragtag land-lovin' militias, matey! This be the full might of the United Earth Directorate! Ahoy!!!" -One day late for International Talk Like a Pirate Day
The art direction was always going to be a challenge since "staying true to the original" gets more tricky when there were completely different looks for some units and characters between the in-game units, the portraits, the cinematics, and the manual art. I personally felt that the artists needed some creative freedom when mixing those interpretations together.
That said, the end product really left the portrait art looking excessively dark and angry. They seemed to be going for really mean, badass looks on characters whose voices usually sounded pretty relaxed. The end result still throws me off when I watch the mission introductions.
I like the in-game graphics. But the character art for the campaign seems like they started with some Starcraft and Starcraft II inspiration and then spun around to a different franchise.
40k: you are like little baby, watch this
I love this reference.
Old Stukov looks so much better
Skulls were a common symbol in most militaries before the modern badguy associations were born. I guess they are supposed to remind you of your own mortality or something like that.
Maru and TY are seeded directly.
Dear and INnoVation have been eliminated and therefore have lost their chance for last BlizzCon spot. GuMiho, Trap, sOs, soO and Solar are still fighting for it.
Also aLive, DRG, Ryung and Zest didn't show up, while ByuN, Losira, MMA, PartinG, and herO did not participate at all.
Edit: GuMiho is fine.
People freaking out about Gumibear while I'm happy to see the one and only FanTaSy making it. As much as I'm hoping to see him doing well, we need soO at Blizzcon.
So weird to not have Inno in Blizzcon...
C'mon sOs! I wanna see another incredible Blizzcon run.
Ran a quick simulation of Blizzcon chances based on current point standings, coin flips and an unknown bracket
Zest is playing in olimoleague right now. Did he really not show up just so he could avoid Maru’s or Serrals group at blizzcon? Lol
Did gumiho not qualify or not participate at all?
Is this real life?
Seems to be missing a lot of big names. No INnoVation, Zest, Gumiho, Byun
When will be the Ro16 pairs available?
Where is Taeja :X
I've been waiting for this
Time for Solar to make a deep run! Also I want FanTaSy to do well
When can we expect a bracket?
Come on, Maru isn't here I need a Zerg to win
When do players get placed in bracket?
Season 1 finalists are invited to Super Tournament 1
Season 3 finalists are invited to Super Tournament 2
Season 2 finalists are invited to ... ?
And since Maru was already invited, would it kill them to invite Zest?! I'm so bummed I won't see him play until BlizzCon
Link to the brackets?
Was Scarlett even trying to qualify for this? I feel like since her big win in Feb she’s MIA in the Korean scene
David Kim wins again.
In my dalliances with extreme SC related pointlessness, here's a thing I tried. Modified the recipe a bit, used half the lemon to juice the chicken itself and sliced the other as a decoration, but it turned out solidly ok. Mixed in a bowl and simmered it in a pan for a bit.
EDIT: Now I realized I used low sodium soy sauce instead of dark soy sauce (which is especially bad since I bought a bottle of the stuff for this and grabbed the low sodium one while cooking), so maybe the flavor will come through stronger with the proper soy sauce.
For those who are confused as to what the easter egg is, if you stay on the briefing screen for the tutorial mission of SC1 (Boot Camp) for a long time, it'll cycle through a bunch of different "End Briefing" screens with funny comments. The last one is a recipe for Chinese Lemon Chicken.
I was going to make it but some lemon stealing whore got in my orchard.
Did it taste good?
Hah that’s awesome I never knew about this Easter egg. How was it?
I'm 99% certain you didn't use dark soy sauce.
i bet you could've marinated this in some green onion, soy sauce, and a touch of sesame oil for 30 minutes for added juiciness and flavor! Still cool to see a recipe easter egg in starcraft, i wonder if there is one in sc2 now?
That. Is. Awesome. 🖤
While most people are pointing out the flaws of the recipe, I say this is superior because not all Chinese Lemon Chicken can help with exploiting the flaws of the Zergling's lemon juice allergy
Now this is off topic, but you mean to tell me that there are plushies of carbot probes?
Tbqh it looks dry
Magistrate, are you alright?
I played a game on a map similar to this before - basically winning strategy is to fly to the closest possible land point and drop an scv, then block opponent's CC. If both sides do it, it's a stalemate every time. Barring that, it quickly becomes a crazy marine/reaper micro battle which is actually kind of fun.
How hard would it be to get this added to the map pool? Blizzard please... /s
remember that scene in The Dark Knight

Apparently some regions are only showing it as "unavailable in your region."
Anyone have any idea what's going on? Maybe the intro music finally flagged something?
http://vod.afreecatv.com/PLAYER/STATION/36804770 Here's the Afreeca vod for anyone looking to watch it
Hopefully they fix it soon!
Maybe they've got a problem with one of the music the players chose? Hopefully it'll get resolved soon though.
I miss Wolf in SC2
I also miss John Travolta in SC2
Name plate back or I'm boycotting.
I also watch scvodarchives lol
What? He's easily the best foreigner this year, but you can't region-lock the term Bonjwa. That's not how it works. Bonjwas aren't the best everywhere but where the best players are, the whole point is they're the undisputed best in the world for a serious period of time. He may very well achieve that if he tries his luck in GSL/Korea next year, but winning all region-locked events in a year, while incredible, is not Bonjwa-worthy.
The bonjwa term shouldn't be used in SC2 in general. It's a dead word in Korea, as it should be everywhere else. Flash was the last bonjwa.
The bonjwa era is over. Flash was the last one.
Can we retire that term already?
14,090 with the nextra highest 3270. That's crazy.
Mr Schlappi and Spaghetti Boi barely missing out. Happy for Lambo though
I want has to take out some Koreans. Would be so funny
Scarlett literally didn't make it because at every single competition she hit Serral or died in a ZvZ with another great zerg. Feels ZvZ man
Serral has nearly as many WCS points as the next 5 players combined.Dear Lord ...
