How long that had to go on just for Gordie was amazing
Crazy to see Mario fly then pause, then fly etc. Unbelievable talent, who knows if he would've stayed healthy how close to the great one he would be,
Expand More Comments
that's a really cool visualization, thanks!
Where's Mike Bossy?
No Mike Bossy?
So that Wayne guy was pretty good, huh?
Met marcel Dionne one of the nicest guys I’ve met, had cool stories to tell about bower and other players
lol waiting for Gordie's last goals
Jeez what a comeback by Phil
not gonna lie I kinda want the Flames to give him a tryout now
A player that gets lots of breakaways and can't score for a Western Canadian team.. sure we could use another Byron!
Bob is right! #TobyOut!
How the fuck is Milbury only a 7 seed?
Pierre hands down. He also gets my vote for MVP.
How is DK only a 6 seed and going up against Rossi who’s an 11? LMAO
Edit: Also how did Mark Madden NOT make bracket at all?
Why the fuck is dart guy a 4 seed?!
I feel that if Eric Francis wins, he’ll be a smug prick about it. Also, if Eric Francis doesn’t win, he’ll be a smug prick about it.
I don't like this new playoff format. Mike Milbury should not be facing Pierre McGuire so early. They work hard, why bother grinding 82 games during a season if the goal is to finish as high as you can so you can have an advantage come playoffs?
There are some people who have no business being on this list.
Pierre vs Jack Edwards in the Sweet 16 is quite the smackdown. I'm picturing that the matchup is just a conversation between the two of them and we see who's head explodes first
every single leafs beat should be on here
Just give it to Pierre and be done with it
How do I vote?
I. HATE. GARRY. GALLEY.
You son of a bitch, Gene Principe is an Edmonton treasure
Lambert as a 14 seed is a dynamite underdog pick to go all the way.
It's funny that everyone is saying Pierre because he is a big dumb goofball while someone like Steve Simmons who is a bitter, vindictive, borderline-terrible person is getting little traction.
I'm sure there are other local guys in this list that are similar as well.
Millbury gets my vote all the way to the championship
It's Pierre. It's gonna be Pierre. It's always Pierre.
Though I hate Milbury, his Spam cube head, and hatred of any warm weather team.
Okay, while Pierre is definitely a bit of a weiner, he's generally harmless. Shitheels like Steve Simmons who actively try to stir the pot, antagonize players, and on occasion just straight up make shit up are the worst part of hockey media.
People don’t like Biz??
DK vs. Rossi. idk who I dislike more. DK has a little bit more of the asshole vibe to him. Rossi just blatantly makes shit up though and reports it as news. Tough one here boys.
I'd give it to Don honestly. I could not be more sick of seeing his face, I don't value his opinion whatsoever. A broken clocks right twice a day but he's wrong on the vast majority of what he says and claims. Also can't make it though a 3 minute segment without Ron holding his hand to make it somewhat presentable.
Happy to see Down Goes Brown is a 16 seed (guy is a legend). Pissed to see Wyshynski is a 4 seed (I thought he was generally likable). Outraged that Milbury is a 7 seed and not a 1 seed (Fuck that guy).
Steve Simmons could grab a #1 seed in a baseball bracket as well.
You cant pronounce worst hockey media without saying TVA Sports in the same sentence.
I don't see Damien Cox listed. Is that because he already won, and this is all just a fight for second place?
Everybody is sleeping on Button, but you just watch. Cinderella story.
It’s Jack Edwards. Case closed and permanently shut.
Pierre doesn’t win by default?
Lambert should be a 2 seed dude fucking blows chunks
Simmons VS Pierre in the finals, calling it now.
Easy, Steve Simmons is the biggest turd of them all.
Mirtle a one seed? I didn't know people hate Mirtle that much.
If you include Bruce Garrioch, which you did, this is over already.
Where’s Kevin Kurz? OP must be tired from the Drake concert last night.
Cant wait for puck soup to get a hold of this. /u/wyshynski
Not sure why Wyshynski is here.
Do Rags fans not like Larry Brooks? Do Sean McIndoe haters exist?
Joe haggerty can eat a dick
Milbury is a 7 seed? Upsets incoming
If Jack Edwards and Ron Francis aren’t the finals we riot. Fuck them both
No Scott Oake?
Whoever but Jack Edwards and Mike Millbury in the same regional is an idiot. That’s a championship matchup, not a regional matchup.
Is Pierre really more disliked than Milbury?
It’s depressing af that u can make a whole 1-16 seed bracket of shit analysts that cover the leafs lol...
Why is this not set up so that pierre will face jack edwards in the finals?
Why is Damien Cox not on there?
How legendary would a Steve Simmons vs Jack Edwards final be?
Also, Ron MacLean is a God damn hero.
Frank "That sounds like a shot at Tavares!" Seravalli should on on the list.
He's a depth-less troll who makes up hot takes.
Well let's just call it a day now, we have a winner.
Someone tell me who the NESN guys are, I cringe every time I watch a clip with their voices.
How the heck does Jason Botchford not make this list? He's like this generations Stan "the Maven" Fischer.
Where's the Hockey Guy?
Any of the ones from Boston.
Why the fuck is Dreger #1 seed? I love Dregs
Dangle winning against Dreger is crap tbh.
How is Seth Rorabaugh on this over Josh Yohe and Jason Mackey?
Mark Lazarus not being in this list is criminal. He’s a meme in Chicago for how bad his hockey opinions are.
It’s Wyshynski in his current role, right? Because he got a lot worse once he started working for ESPN.
Brooks vs Milbury final?
I'm going to do X-stats for this when it's all done.
If Jeff Marek gets to the second round I'm burning this sub reddit to the ground!
Also missing Rob Ray.
No Adrian Dater? Expected him to be a 1/2 seedNvm, he's there.
Simmons v Edwards in the final.
Eric Francis is winning that golden turd for sure
Is Michel Bergeron there? Because Michel Bergeron should be there.
Friedmann just for purposely using the wrong abbreviations for teams
Pierre, Steve Dangle, Simmons and Brooks are my final four, Pierre and Simmons in the final, Pierre wins because even my mom won't watch games he is involved with.
Ah, the Eklund trophy!
Dregs meets Kipper in the second round. Tough bracket. Both are awful.
Steve Dangle is currently winning (i guess its really losing) to dreger on thw twitter poll.
We need our own.
I think James Mirtle is obnoxious but I didnt think he is disliked enough to be a 1 seed
Wait, are we voting for the worst or the best?
Pierre Macquarie is a strong 1 seed especially when he’s gobbling Crosby’s gonads
Jeff O’Neill needs to be a higher seed. Bruce Arthur and Steve Dangle shouldn’t be on at all IMO
bruh how the fuck is steve dangle a 16 seed
Steve Simmons is the overwhelming favourite here. A lot of the other terrible guys are limited to their local city. The Montreal Media has a TON of bad journalists who don't get any traction outside Montreal.
But Steve Simmons is localized to the mecca of hockey fandom + he gets national and international attention.
I don't see any one affiliated with the Blues.
How is this just not the Mike Milbury Award?
3 seed for Adrian Dater. Good, I hate that guy almost as much as he seems to hate the avalanche
After the first round Steve Dangle with a major upset knocking off Darren Dreger.
Can we get Elliotte Friedman's name abbreviated? I suggest L8FMN.
No the hockey guy!? (dont hate him jist want him to be recognized)
Just give it to Simmons
No Brian Hayward? I'm shocked to be honest
The only hockey media guy I can think of not on this chart is Bob McKenzie. It sucks that hockey media seems to be filled with so many annoying personalities.
Just fucking give it to Mcquire already
Oh easy...Simmons and Edwards in the finals for sure.
Pierre and Don are going to be one hell of a matchup
Saw "Ryan Lambert" and cringed. I left puckdaddy behind for a good reason.
Soooo, is the goal here to NOT win?
Ron Maclean???? Who doesn't like him?
I guarantee a Simmons-Edwards final don't @ me
You guys wanna do like polls to simulate this?
How can Eddie Olczyk not be in this list? Should be 1st seed on Blackhawks (they can do no wrong) bias alone. Worst than NBCs overall Penguin bias.
I can't wait to see all you hypocrites in an anti-bullying thread expressing your support.
Steve Dangle gonna upset the tourney and show you all hes the worst.
How is ray ferarro not on here?
Steve Simmons in Toronto and Ken Campbell are the worst IMO.
What's impressive to me is not only Wayne's pass, but also Kurri's anticipation and knowledge of what Gretzky is going to do. I wonder if he just strides down the ice and expects the puck to come to him
WTF is that pass. How do you defend that. Oh here comes Wayne, what is he doing, is he changing on the fly with the puck? Aaaand they scored.
Not to take away from how skilled the players were back then, but man do goalies always look awful in these clips. Maybe we're just spoiled now by awesome goaltending.
The time and space is insane
I’d always heard that Gretzky would look at the reflection in the glass to know where players were going, that behind the back pass looked to be the perfect example of that.
That's not even fair lmao
I took that title way too literal. Was hoping for Gretz and Jari sitting in a McDonald's passing a ketchup cup with plastic utensils.
This is my favourite Gretzky pass.
Used to watch the VHS Wayne Gretzky: Above and Beyond like 3-4 times a year as a kid. Always loved this one.
Imagine thinking Prime Ovie wouldn't pot 92+ shooting on department store mannequin goalies like these.
Fucking Wayne. I know he is the greatest ever, but I tend to forget what made him something different when I haven't seen highlights of him for a while.
The lack of ads is always so refreshing.
I never watched Gretzky play because I was too young but I have never seen an example as good as this that shows how deceptive or next level thinker he was out there. This is almost hard to comprehend, I have watched the GIF a few times and it is phenomenal how sneaky he is.
What in gods name is that pass? And how have I never seen this before? Mind blowing.
wOuLDn'T bE aBLe tO PlAY iN toDAy'S LeaGUe
I watched this a dozen times. Mind still blown.
He still has more assists than anyone has points. Until that changes he’ll always be The Great One.
Ahh yes, back in the days when the oilers didn't suck!
lmao guy has all the time in the world to make the play. wtf are the D even doing other than nothing.
Classic !! Love it !!
Gretz goes tape-to-tape behind the back blind, meanwhile half my team can't even complete a pass without bobbling it, putting it in the feet, too far, or icing it in full view. WTF.
I seriously wonder how many points peak Gretzky would get in today’s game. Maybe 150? Is that too much or too little?
He literally had eyes in the back of his head
No advertisements on the boards looks weird.
I mean to take NOTHING away from Gretz but it is weird now how this type of thing is not nearly as rare. maybe Im spoiled as a Vancouverite having spend the last decade+ watching the Sedins and their witchcraft though
Which team was that against? Can’t make out the logo.
I wonder how many of Grant Fuhr's assists were rebounds picked up by these two and taken to the house.
Its like a reverse drop pass.
And it’s a short handed goal?!?
It's an amazing pass, but my god are those players caught looking like pylons there. The backchecking winger that stops skating next to Kurri, and the other 2 that both close in on Gretzky, but not really, and are stuck in no man's land.
Also the goalie diving out of the net entirely to try and cover deek angles I guess, but that was also par for the course back then.
I'm sure I'll get plenty of downvotes for this. That defense was beer league level, I understand that it's Gretzky and you have to cover him, but why would both of D'men go towards him like that an leave Kurri wide open streaking up the middle? Also, that was a gold star "there was an attempt" at a save. I'm pretty sure every dude in beer league these days is better at making a save these days than that. No wonder scoring was so high back then.
Having said all that... the handles were sick and that no look backhand pass by Gretzky was sex.
Gretz and Kurri were dummy good together
So what you're also saying is that Montembeault is destined to be a Canuck one day?
Kevin Weekes? the guy from the NHL Network?
are you saying if he wins today against LA or did he already win? sorry don’t follow the Panthers much
as much as I would have preferred otherwise, I have to admit he looked great against us the other night
Wow that's pretty bad.
I mean yeah - wouldn't this have happened like a week ago?
I needed to figure out if 4 was an unusually high or low, so I looked up Anaheim's goaltending draft picks' wins (Anaheim also joined league 1998 20 years ago). Ducks also have just 4 goalies that fit this criteria
John Gibson 2nd Rd Pick 2011 (39th Overall)
Martin Gerber 8th Rd Pick 2001 (232nd Overall)
Ilya Bryzgalov 2nd Rd Pick 2000 (44th Overall)
Mikhail Shtalenkov 5th Rd Pick 1993 (108th Overall)
Mainly shocking that Bryzgalov was drafted before Martin Gerber. Bryzgalov drafted at 20.0 years of age, Gerber drafted at 26.7 years of age.
Pointless factoid of the day: Marc-Edouard Vlasic wears the most non-branded equipment in the league. Bauer did not pay this licensing fee for Easton after buying them out, so their logos had to be covered up. Pickles wears an Easton helmet, Easton pants, and Sher-Wood gloves.
TIL the NHL has a stick-licensing fee. I'm not surprised, but I never heard anything about it before. Is it safe to assume that any other equipment with visible brand names is also subject to a fee?
The weird part of this to me is that the NHL Regulates stick color so people don't get an unfair advantage but then they pull the colored logo off of Bobrovsky's stick which seems like it makes less noticeable on white ice and against white pads,
I seem to recall Pavlec doing the same thing in his last year with the Jets as well, for the same reason
i believe allen used a sher-wood logoless stick for a while as well
Not a single square foot of space on the screen that isn't a paid ad, and they wonder why I use /r/nhlstreams instead of giving them more money. They chose ad money over fan money. I'm not paying $200+/year to watch nonstop advertising.
It's also a similar reason you don't see any warrior goal equipment used by any goalies
I'm so used to eyesore inducing branding over everything, that this looks unusual but I really would love getting used to it.
Eugene Melnyk wants to know your location
That logoless stick is actually an ad for the book "No Logo" by Naomi Klein. So meta
I like it
Oh man this is total meme material.
This actually kinda made me sad :(
They should have put it in the recycling so it can be used again next year.
Winder what theyll do with the #1 pick this year
lol mcdavid already with 100 points and Drai possible. this is just insane. the stars have no fucking secondary scoring at all, and jamie benn has 46 points? what in the fuck oilers
This is pretty brutal to see even by my standards.
Comedy is pain plus distance.
Pain? The soul crushing kind. Check.
Distance? 1697.3 miles from Phoenix to Edmonton per Google. Check
This is officially comedic.
I smell a meme
Oops, did we do this?
My heart bleeds for Mc David.
It's a long shot but the Oilers could still make the playoffs. Yeah it's unlikely but they've been playing some good hockey recently. Blues and Stars are missing, what? Tarasenko, Schenn, Zuccarello, probably more?
"Organic Waste Only"
Well at least I still have Ottaw... God damnit.
Damn this is actually rough
Ugh its too real
How is this not low content but my crab rave for chiarelli was? It’s not everyday chiarelli gets fired but this happens almost every year for the Oilers 🦀🦀🦀🦀
We go on win streaks: cricketsWe lose a game: don't hear the end of it
as is tradition
Fuckin picked up Koskinen in fantasy playoffs hoping they could beat fuckin NEW JERSEY at HOME. Nope. Chased.
Bought tickets months ago for Blues Oilers in Tuesday for my dads birthday. Hopefully Edm is still in “try” mode. We certainly should be. Edm should still be in the hunt at that point
i feel this on a spiritual level
At least you’re recycling
That’s so depressing 😂
We'll get em next time
6 pts out of contention, you're fine. Quit being dramatic.
Looking forward to seeing this all over other sports subs.
Is there a list anywhere of teams what are statistically out?
Maybe next time you will estimate us
Is that a picture from December?
I wonder if there was any intent in keeping the message visible instead of just shoving the whole poster into the bin.
Look at the silver lining..... At least you aren't Ottawa!
I think people really need to start taking a good hard look at McDavid as captain in that room. Are we all forgetting about the time he called his coach "a joke" and called two of his former linemates "useless plugs"? This kinda stuff matters.
I find it kinda funny
I find it kinda sad
Mo Hazzard is such a sick name. Almost sounds made up
Poor Unknown, second from the left in the back
Damn imagine winning a championship and they got u down in the paper as "unknown"
Funny seeing a 12 year old named Doc
Carling B? Cardi B’s great grandfather?
I think I see Jagr in there!
That’s pretty cool , I love seeing hockey’s history
Super tall kid with long legs on the right side - and his name is MeLong. Awesome.
Too bad Frank Melong’s brother, Richard, wasn’t in the photo.
I'm just surprised Pat Roache kept his shirt on.
My grandfather and a friend/teammate of his were invited to Red Wings training camp (in the early 50s I believe). My grandfather said his friend was the fastest skater in Eastern Ontario (exaggeration I'm sure). They skated with some of the other prospects that were invited and they thought they may actually have a shot at getting signed. Next thing you know, Gordie and Ted and a few other Red Wings come onto the ice to do the drills with some of the prospects. Ted and Gordie skated laps around everyone on the ice, and made my grandpa's friend look like he was wearing cinder blocks on his feet. That was the moment my grandpa said he knew he didn't have a chance in pro hockey. Sort of unrelated but I felt like sharing.
Doc Dickinson.... great name
damn this was right before WW2 started
Tell you're grandpa we need a wrench report on Mo Hazzard.
any pic of women hockey players from around this time??
Them kids are dapper AF.
If were doing grandpas from the 30's i'd like to share as well, these guys won a nova scotia championship!
I need to know that Mo Hazzard and Doc Dickinson did well in their lives.
Those sweaters are nice!
Those are some filthy sweaters not gonna lie. Love the look
Awesome! this should be in r/oldschoolcool
Coach looking classy af.
There's old school cool and then there's old school cool. This is the latter.
I can't for the life of me imagine taking a slapshot to the foot in those old leather skates. I took a point blank slapshot to the bare ankle once (above the skate, behind the shin guard...) and I thought I was going to have to drive 2 hours home with a broken ankle.
Taking a shot straight into a leather boot...no fuckin' thanks.
School hockey champs. The one school.
Those damn Carlings were everywhere back then
Where was this? What paper?
It's interesting how long those sticks are. Looks like the lie is much lower than is normally used today as well (matching the long length)
Frank Melong sounds like one of Danny DeVito's alter egos from IASIP.
It’s one thing to see an adult playing goalie without a mask, it’s another to see a 12 year old goalie playing without a mask. Kids back then were tough as nails!
Crazy that there was a hockey Hall of Famer from way out here in the forest. A few of my cousins went to Holy Name in Pembroke as kids.
Carling, Carling, Carling B. Someone messed up on nickname day. Cool pic for sure.
What it feels like coaching Tampa
I'm starting to think there's a reason the teams with higher goal differentials have more points
Where are the oilers
Where’s Tampa? Oh...
I'm not sure but it looks like there is a correlation between goal differential and points earned.
because of course the avs are north of the trend line
I like that the Oilers roundness just made the Rangers logo look a little wider
I find the Ducks position quite amusing.
Are there any graphs where Tampa is not off the charts?
CBJ in hot waters
TIL tampa good
Wow, Vegas was awful.
This format gives me nostalgia.
This gives me nostalgia... not being in college... going to nhl.com to check out league standings... having the time and the cable to follow the NHL... redwings were good... I was happy then...
anyway back to work
Ah yes, this was our down year where we were able to land the Forsberg with the 11th overall pick. I remember being so stoked that he fell to us, lol.
The only team higher than the Rangers today is the Lightning, aka the New and Improved Rangers South
"In 5 years, San Jose's window will be closed." -- someone, somewhere.
HAHHA look at that shitty Buffalo team! 68 points in 65 games! WHAT A JOKE!
Winnipeg has been around since Dallas changed their logo? I swear it still feels like Winnipeg entered the league....
27-4-2 home record, damn that old barn was something. Was this the season we had that crazy record?
Middle of the pack just like always.
Oh how the turn tables
Somethings never change... @ Edmonton.
Edmonton fans look away
I cry everytime
The Caps had 69 points. Nice.
Ah yes, the good old days. When Ottawa was at least mediocre...
Thank you for choosing the year we were good.
2012 turned out to be a pretty good year.
Oh god this was the 18 wheeler off a cliff year (the first one)
Winnipeg in the south east division was really strange. I understand why it was the case but it doesn't make it any less weird.
2012 playoffs, yes please
Posted this in /r/rangers and thought it might be of interest here as well.
Wow look at the rangers. That won’t happen for a while.
I always forget that we actually had to build a team around Ovi. I just imagine him landing from Moscow, going straight to the game, breaking the glass, scoring two goal, hitting a hole in one and since then we've been a powerhouse. What're we doing in the middle there?
Wow! Things sure have turned around for the Oilers since then with all those high draft picks.
Avs: started at the bubble and now we’re... actually around the same place seven years later lol
Great year for me. Was living in LA then and was shocked by the King’s’ rally. Went down to Staples center for Game 6 of the finals just to be around the atmosphere if they won. Grabbed a beer and this guy came up to me and we had a brief conversation until the conversation went like this:
Him-“how would you like to go to the game?”
Me- “sorry I don’t have money for that, which is why I’m here.”
Him- “No no. You don’t have to pay me. Two of my friends didn’t show so I have extra tickets and you seem like a good fan.”
I had never been so amazed. Turns out the guy was the oral surgeon for the Kings back in the 90s and the tickets were 10 rows behind Marty.
Back when Tampa was near the bottom of the pack...
I feel so ancient. I was still in high school then. Now I’m working in a cube.
Edmonton Fans: "Goddamnit reddit, what did we do to you."
Thanks Ryan Miller...
I'm not seeing a difference.
Well well well, how the turntables
The Central Division was incredible that year. They just dominated the standings and I was so excited to see them all meet in the playoffs. I was so certain one of them would win the Cup.
Then a Coyotes team which hadn't won a playoff series in decades (when they were in Winnipeg) knocked out two of them and a Kings team which couldn't score all year had one of the most dominant playoff runs in my lifetime. Hockey is weird.
Great season - I remember going to a Kings Blackhawks game just before the trade deadline and trying to get a “don’t trade Dustin” chant going as LA was closing out a 4-0 victory. Brown had a hat trick amidst rumors of him being shipped out - you can see in the chart the Kings are 16th - as if to say, “I’m here to stay, let’s do this.” Instead, Lombardi acquired Jeff Carter and the Kings squeaked into the playoffs in game 81, then went 16-4 and beat the top three seeds in the West before earning the Cup vs the Devils. Great year, thanks OP.
Yeah I didn't want to feel happiness today it's cool
as a blackhawks fan this is so depressing
This is the salary cap working as intended. While I'm sad that my team has been impacted by the cap a lot because we were very reckless in pursuit of cups and the rebuilding process is painful, I'm glad that there is parity in the NHL that doesn't exist in Football or Basketball. Good GMs and coaches still perform better than bad ones under these conditions and teams can wax and wane but ultimately, the draft lottery and salary cap have kept things competitive and exciting. It's good to see that no team has to be terrible forever unless they're from Canada.
Nothing in this world is certain except for death, taxes, and the Oilers at the bottom of the league
Washington the only team at 69 oh yeah
A shootout record of 10-3... Sigh... We’re lucky if we go 3-10 today
Insane to see the positions of the two SCF teams in March. Eventual winner isn't even close to the playoffs and EC team is just barely hanging on.
Ha! The Kings below us, they totally didn't do anything historic that year.
Ahh. The good old days 😢
Stop, I'm not even alive yet
Were basically in the same spot
We’re in the middle.
Fucking mediocre as always
Oh hey Buffalo hasn’t moved at all
Back when the Canucks were good :'(
Adam Oates was really the worst.
Why you gotta make me feel?
Damn the Panthers were 11 over? Please let me go back hockey gods please!!!!
I’m having terrible flashbacks, don’t think I went to a single game between the 07 and 12 seasons because the atmosphere was so bad. Everyone booing the players we were supposed to be supporting. Horrible, horrible times.
The oilers 9 points better but having played 2 more games.
I'm already calculating the ways in which the Leafs can make the playoffs. There's still a chance!
Lets be real, the NHL has gotten significantly more interesting since then
Holy crap, I posted the earlier-season version of the same picture to r/rangers 7 years ago! Insane how time flies...
Fuck Raffi Torres
On the one hand, 30th out of 30; on the other hand, 2 game winning streak
Minnesota at .500? I guess some things never change
3 constants in life:
Death, Taxes, and the Edmonton Oilers being at the bottom of the standings
Considering the trajectory of teams since this, Buffalo and Edmonton really stick out as teams that consistently struggle. I have confidence this will not continue, late bloomers if you will.
Penguins on a 5 game winning streak. Very good.
7 years later and still a middle of the pack team, sigh
This was the last time we missed the playoffs too..
Hey, that's the last time the Ducks were bad. We drafted Hampus Lindholm that year. Good thoughts!
Hey, look! The playoffs!
And the wild have made the playoffs every year since... And then loose in a spectacular fashion.
I miss this layout
I am so used to the Sabres being shit or inconsistent AF I instantly found them.
Caps at 69 points, niceeeee😎
good to see nothing's changed on our end...
Oh I miss the days of being top of the pack all year
San Jose the best mediocre team in the nhl :(
Sounds like a shot at John Tavares
Cup finalists casually at number 10 and 16 because this league makes no sense.
Nothings changed for Edmonton.
This was the march of the penguins right? Where we had the only perfect month in NHL history?
Caps had 69 points. Nice.
Buffalo and Toronto, eternal rivals battling for 22nd.
I miss when Toronto was bad.
Capitals point total....
I miss being relevant and 3 divisions. Life was easy.
Cries in Red wings
Leaf fan here. The birth of the 18 wheeler and Burke had fired Ron Wilson had just been fired. Fun times.
I see we are pretty much the same. Not surprised.
Meanwhile in 2026:
Edmonton once again wins the draft lottery, making it the 5th time they’ve won it in the past 7 seasons.
damn our division was garbage. how the turn tables....
oh shit I loved that old Stars logo
Check out those Jets, holding down second place in the Southeast Division.
(at 18th place overall)
Good to see edm still doing what they do best
Came here for the Edmonton comments. I was not disappointed.
I think this was the year the Leafs "18-wheeler going right off a cliff" year which landed us Rielly.
Starting the season with Jacques Martin, promoting Randy Cunneyworth as interim head coach, having Trevor Timmins as head scout and having a terrible everything happening that year, just 2 years after going to the ECF.
That season might have been the closest the Habs ever was to experiencing Sens hockey.
The year the Holtbeast was born
I miss being good.
Hey, look! We were relevant! I can't imagine that ever ending.
I know things haven't come together for us after selling off all our picks but god I don't ever want to return to where we were then
Looks good to me. Lets do that
Well well well... how the turn tables have.
People complain about the current playoff format but the Pens and Flyers played each other first round this year, despite both having more points than anyone in the east but the Rangers. The Red Wings and Preds played each other in the first round too and look where they are in this picture.
so you're saying hockey is cyclical?!
Ugh. Thanks for the reminder.
Not much has changed for Edmonton
WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE 67!
I'm not sure if it's funny or sad looking at the Oilers and how we're still down there.
Nice to see the improvements the Oilers and Sabers have made....oh wait.
Oh how the turntables
Top 5 teams goal differential: 1. +46, 2. +48, 3. +38, 4. + 56, 5. ...NSH +18. Yup sounds like the Barry Trotz days.
I'm surprised to see the Jets above .500 here. That was ... not a good hockey team.
Blues and Preds with the sustained success
Edit: and Boston
nephew, delete this
Hey look, Dallas right in the middle with nothing good or bad about them. Seems out of place /s
Ahh yes, the year where everybody was fighting for who would have the biggest draft bust.
Take me back. I was so sure after the 2012 WCF run that the Yotes were finally a playoff team and would have multiple winning seasons ahead of them. We cannot seem to figure out how to string together multiple winning seasons.
Wow edm has made some great improvements since then
Well, we're nearly exactly where we were. Except this has "Won 3". That's a mythical stat this time of year.
