Yeah this is not an "aww" moment at all...that's a painful spot to be putting all your weight on for a horse. This is one polite horse for just doing what it did. It probably would've been able to express itself further had that guy not held its head and restricted its movement

Not so /r/aww at all unfortunately. Applying weight on that part of his body actually hurt him. This is why it is important to have the saddle placed correctly and why it is dangerous to have 2 people riding a horse (not because of the weight, but more because of the distribution of the weight). A horse can manage a decent amount of weight without any issues if placed correctly on his back. This is sad.

I had 2 cats that were sisters and they had litters a few weeks apart. One of them stopped nursing her babies completely. My other cat then stepped in and took care of both litters. She was a good momma kitty.

I have a great Pyrenees dog that does the same thing. He has a very strong protective instinct. He imprints on children and small animals almost immediately, then hangs out near them waiting for the inevitable wolf or bear attack.

In my fenced in back yard. In Houston TX.

But still, he is on the job, and it fulfills him. Protecting makes him happy. We are considering getting him ducks!

We had a barn cat growing up that was pregnant. Our dog had found a rabbits nest and attacked the mama rabbit. Our cat was near by and attacked our dog and took the babies to the barn. I remember seeing my cat fighting my dog, and later finding my dog eating the rabbit.

We later found my cat in the barn with the bunnies. My dad took them to the vets office and they brought them to a wildlife rehabilitation center. I thought it was so sweet.

Yeah the last time my cat found a full nest of rabbits she spent the entire day retrieving one at a time, bringing it back to our yard and eating it whole. A total of 5 baby rabbits were eaten and the mother rabbit was brought home last. Nature is metal as fuck.

Not only cute but interesting as heck. Does anyone know why this happens? Just curious. Is it really nothing more than she’s got raging mom hormones?

That one is a kitten though right? So did she just add the bunnies to her litter?

  • curiously-optimistic

Sucks for the mama bunny. Rabbit mamas only come back to the nest once or twice a day to check on their kits. This helps prevent them from accidentally leading predators to the nest. Hopefully this cat leaves them alone for a while and mama can get in and check them.

Her maternal hormones were obviously raging. I have seen cats adopt chicks in a similar situation.
