My fiancee and I have been playing a Star Wars themed D&D campaign, she's been drawing us custom lightsabers.

For those interested in Star Wars RPGs, the current FFG line (Edge of the Empire, Age of Rebellion, and Force and Destiny) is very good. Highly recommend it for a system that really captures the storytelling rhythms of the movies.

I would highly recommend the Star Wars d6 REUP edition for Star Wars roleplay, I made the jump from D&D; 5E and the d6 system is simpler and makes a lot more sense for Star Wars. There are some growing pains with learning the a new system, but having looked at the 5E port, it's kind of like they crammed Star Wars into that system, rather than building a system with Star Wars in mind. Of course if you guys are having fun RPing Star Wars you are doing it right no matter what system you use.

    http://www.starwarstimeline.net/WestEndGames/The%20Roleplaying%20Game%20Revised%20Expanded%20Updated%20WRP.pdf

Either way if you aren't doing recaps with a crawl it's pretty much a rule that you have to:https://starwarsintrocreator.kassellabs.io/

Can anyone that's played Star Wars 5e, d6 and Force and Destiny weigh in on which system is the best?

I saw it at Roy Thomson Hall as well. To be perfectly honest, I thought they really weren't any better than the London Sympathy Orchestra already was, and there were some issues with the quality of the rest of the soundtrack (e.g., near-silent laser blasts during the Battle of Hoth). But it's always great to watch ESB, and I have to respect the skill it must take to hit every note on perfect cue.

Why do the armor plates lay like they do? I would think they should be more like shingles. These seem upside down.

I’m guessing the design is correct to what Samurai armors looks like, but it just seems odd to me, like they’d constantly be flipping open like window blinds.

Regardless, nice work - very cool.

Ps: the shoulders are like shingles... but some other bits are the reverse.

I feel like the armor is on inside out/backwards. The armor is designed to be flexible while also deflecting the sward slash. The leather string holding each piece to the next keeping them together should be on the inside. It just doesn't look right. Am I wrong?

Creator here! Glad to see my Samurai Stormtrooper making the rounds again on Reddit. I built this with historical accuracy as a guideline but had to veer away for somethings still, as it just wasn't possible with my skills at the time.

  • FriendofMaul
    2 points Mar 25,2019, 4:44pm

I feel like the armor is on inside out/backwards. The armor is designed to be flexible while also deflecting the sward slash. The leather string holding each piece to the next keeping them together should be on the inside. It just doesn't look right. Am I wrong?

Love it. Only the second samurai stormtrooper cosplay I've seen.

Maybe a little upgrade of the sune-ate and the kote (shin and sleeve armor) would make it even more impressive.

2019 and Jedi formal wear still isn’t acceptable business attire.

Look at these textures and tell me this look doesn’t work.

I’m a strait cis white guy from the Midwest and I’d have this dude’s babies.

Bonus: Jedi robes are flattering on a multitude of body shapes. Plus light layers are form following function.
