I was trying to learn how to use the /fill command and noticed this hard edge between the dark rectangle and the light spots. Furthermore, I couldn't explain the cause of the light in the first place. There's just open sky above, no resource packs, no tricks.
Additional details: If I stand on the brightest middle block with the debug screen open, it shows light level '14 block'. If I fly up one block it says '15 block'. Sky light is 15 for both. [screenshot] So it seems there's an ethereal light source just above the ground. If I place a block next to any side of that floating light source, it vanishes.
More glitchiness: after removing one such light source and setting the time to day, some very dark spots appeared. [screenshot] They were definitely not there earlier. I was able to fix them by placing blocks on or next to them.
Bonus question: how do you actually fill in a 1-block deep area with the /fill command? I tried /fill ^ ^ ^ ^5 ^ ^10 minecraft:air and it dug out a 6x2x10 area below my feet. The idea was to simply remove the grass without dropping seeds (yes, I know there's a gamerule to disable tile drops). Just trying to generally understand it.

Forever a mystery
Creeper Ambushes are the worst.
I wouldve screamed so loud jesus. But this is why you always make a shield
And YOU get a creeper and YOU get a creeper and YOU get a creeper...
Where the hell did those creepers come from omg. And if that skeleton wasn’t there you would have been fine-ish lol, he shot the last creeper and pushed it right next to you 😂😂.

Switch to blocks and start building fast. Let your inner fortnight come out.
It’s raining creepers hallelujah it’s raining creepers amen.
P A I N
This mixes well with that other video where the Phantoms had WW2 bomber sound effects
Since when can you hold a torch AND a pickaxe??? I might have to hop back on this timeless masterpiece of a game!
That's why you should keep a shield in your hotbar, if this happens press F to place it on your off hand and they wont stand a chance.
Hello There (x5)
That's a lot of explosive personalities
THE WALLS. THEY'RE IN THE GODDAMN WALLS
I just cannot play without /gamerule keepInventory true because of a scenario like this.
At least you didn't die in the lava...
BIG OOF dude YIKES
Third time's the charm
F for this fallen player.
They wanted to hug you.
why is your hotbar inverted?
They’re moving in herds.... they do move in herds...
Now that's what I call a chain explosion
Not sure if this is common but it’s usually get a small swarm of skeletons out of nowhere.
That was the most epic and saddest thing I’ve seen today lmao
I would've paused and put it on peaceful myself, but judging from these comments that would make a pansy...
Didn’t know there were quest dungeons in minecraft
I would've shat myself
Sounds of distant airraid sirences
Everybody gangsta till the waterfall starts speaking tsssss...
Should have brought a cat with you
Why were you recording?
Can I meme this? I would credit you of course.
Shield woulda saved you easy
Do creepers have spawn rooms? What a nightmare that would be.
This is why (despite looking like a coward) I use keepinv

It’s hard not to react but they won’t hurt you if you just let em blow up in the water.
Don't you just creepers? In all seriousness, I once placed a sign in a mine about falling creepers.I was working on. Also this thing, https://youtu.be/UiKOf4jNbm8
I purposefully never go in ravines or caves that have unlit ledges or caves. I’ll either back track and find the way up or make a stair case though the walls. A shield would be good but I’m playing on switch and have no idea how to use the off hand.
You need to make a wall design that compliments the floating pathways.I would suggest quartz blocks, in different patterns, proberly with some white concrete and glass mixed in. You could use fire or sea lanterns for better lighting.
Water works great with quartz, white concrete and sea lanterns.
You could also go with the good old stone bricks/andesite/cobble wall design. Acacia works very well with that.
To make the theme stronger I would replace the current stone slabs with quartz slabs.
Maybe you can expand upon the water area to make it more heavenly. You can add sea pickles, lily pads and all kinds of flowers to give your space color!!
Great start!! Make sure you post an update pic!
I like the floating pathway. Cool idea. I noticed the tree is off center though. Maybe build a bigger birch tree by hand that is 2x2 wide so it can be in the center. Also i would let four 1x1 streams of water flow down from the ceiling and have them land on the four edges of the middle platform.Quartz pillars would work pretty well here i think, quartz in general. Very resource demanding but your build could benefit tremendously from it. Or just go with wool for a start. White stained glass compliments such a build too if an airy look is what you are going for.Lastly, i would add some detail to the portal itself.Maybe build some angel wings that spread out from it using quartz staircases and slabs. Just something to put more focus on the important part of your build. Cheers!
What a piece of junk!
Over the past few days i've been killing my boredom with building a Millenium Falcon in minecraft. I know it's not very detailed yet, it's pretty barebone and not that cool, also i am not very talented etc.. whatever.
The thing now is that i built it completely in iron blocks which when i began seemed like a good idea - now while it's barebone is finished it's hugely annoying and way too bright so i'd like to change it without having to do it manually.
/fill command obviously sprung to mind, sadly it's limits are 32k blocks and at least the error said the ship is over 1 million blocks.
Found something about using command blocks but that also is about 3 years old and likely not possible anymore. MCEdit seems outdated and i don't know if it'll work. Worldedit is something i wanted to look into but first i thought i'd ask this community for any ideas about it.
So what would be the easiest way to replace those blocks with something else?
I have every access to server files and everything since i am hosting the server on my own root server myself. Right now it's a vanilla 1.13.2 server but i'd be open to adding mods if necessary.
worldedit would be your best bet, or do it in smaller pieces at a time
mcedit has a replace function it doesn't know what the latest blocks are but if youre not using newish blocks then you can still replace.
/fill x1 y1 z1 x2 y2 z2 minecraft:(whatyouwant) replace minecraft:(whateveryouhave)
World mode: Hardcore.
World type: Amplified.
There, now it's a challenge.
to bedrock, chunk by chunk.
All the things
Command block? Barrier block?
The strongest choices equairs the strongest will
what's your qualifications for a block? anything that's placeable, or anything that takes up a full 1x1 block?
That'll take you more than 20 minutes to complete! ;D
Oh, it’s That Pool.
One thing's for sure, this room is going to get a lot active pretty soon.
Pretty. What texture pack are you using?
For those who don't understand the reference, it's a pool in Japan which is famous for being rented out for filming adult videos.
is your base a spacecraft?
What’s the floor made out of?

Reminds me of the desert village in Breath of the Wild
Really cool, looks like Almuj.
Nice! I like it a lot.
Looks awesome. Wish we could get this as a generated structure in deserts!
I clicked the thumbnail and almost thought it was a full on Almuj recreation. Took me a second, haha. Impressive work nonetheless.
That is so awesome! I am jealous
I can swear this was one of the maps on the old ctf server.
It looks like Gerudo in Zelda
That's what i picture The Hub to look like in Fallout
Reminds me of bdoubleo100 and his amazing desert village he made in his survival world. Similar style, I like it.
Would like to chip in with a guess: Al Kharid of Runescape as inspiration?
In any case, very nice build, I like it a lot.
Looks alot like Almuj from Wynncraft
While visually interesting, I think the way the colors suddenly switch mid-connection feels off. If it were my build, I'd probably just make each of the connection sections its own neutral color.
Don't talk to me, my wife or my son ever again.
Looks pretty good
Baby tower, mummy tower and dad tower.
Feel like such a child rn XD
This is for sure one of the most creative, beautiful and well-done builds I've seen on Minecraft! Great concept :D
And you succeeded! This is really cool!
Looks like it belongs in Harry Potter
I love it! :)
This is inspiring
