This can't be Atlanta traffic! This traffic appears to be moving!

  • cykabythebook

What an amazing picture. It's extremely satisfying for some reason. Great.

Is that Georgia tech to the right? I live right there!

  • physicscat
    1 points Jan 15,2017, 12:44pm

I'm calling fake. This is CLEARLY photoshopped to make it look like traffic is moving in Atlanta.

  • compbioguy

If you look closely there is a dead seahawk on one of the shoulders

  • arnoldtroll
    1 points Jan 15,2017, 10:13am

When you do night time over pass long exposures like this, do you have safety issues? Do you bring any type of knife or other weapon? I'd like to start doing this in my city but I've always been worried

  • jellyblob
    1 points Jan 15,2017, 10:49am

I feel like I've seen this before, didn't this photo win a competition or something awhile ago? Or was that a similar theme picture? (traffic through torn fence).

I would reverse image search, but I'm on mobile.

  • heylowlita
    1 points Jan 15,2017, 12:44pm

I love the perspective of seeing ATL traffic through the broken fence. On a related subject, have you ever been on Jackson Street Bridge? There's a lot of people that have done long exposure photography off of it because of its wide, clear view of the city, and thought you might like trying experimenting there too, if you're interested. :) I'll be visiting it myself this upcoming weekend for a client shoot.

Hey guys, my last Atlanta long exposure was pretty well received here so I just wanted to share another. Here's the details: NIKON D90, Tokina 11.0-16.0 mm f/2.8, 16mm f/18 13s ISO200

Edit: Hijacking myself for shameless self promo. I'd love to connect with you guys on instagram and expand my network. I try to come up with puns with all of my posts, so definitely check it out if you're into that sort of thing. Let me know that you're from reddit and I'd be happy to follow you back.

  • steefkeef
    1 points Jan 10,2017, 6:48pm

Awesome shot. I think this is my first time seeing a long exposure taken from an airplane. How did you manage to get such a crisp shot with all the movements and vibrations?

On another note, I saw the northern lights for the first time last March. It's crazy to see how high up they actually are in this angle. When you're standing underneath them, they look like they're about 60 feet above you when in reality they're 60 miles away.

EDIT: The plane looks like it's at the same level as the lights, so it looks sort of misleading. Maybe it's the angle? Not sure.

I've never seen on the same picture stars on a black sky and clouds illuminated by the sun, unless from space. Come to think about it, I've never been able to see any star from a plane window. Ever. So hmmm, what to do, what to do...

  • Troy_And_Abed_In_The
    1 points Jan 10,2017, 10:58am

This is fake. Borealis photos take about 2-20 seconds of exposure, which would make this far too blurry to see anything. Also, the window would cause even more of a blur. And lastly, can I remind everyone what an actual 747 wing looks like

EDIT: okay, the newest 747's sort of look like OP's and apparently someone else has gotten a similar photo. I'm still not convinced though.

EDIT2: It could be real, but why hasn't OP responded to a single comment? That's very unlike /r/ITAP

Where does the Santa Monica Pier or the one in Santa Barbara come in? Aren't they wooden as well, or am I misremembering things?

Nice shot! The sky really sets the mood of this photo. I have been meaning to get myself up to Oceanside to take some photos.

I've gotten a few keepers down south at Scripps Pier in La Jolla. Any tips for shooting the pier at Oceanside?

This must've been a while ago, haven't seen the rocks like that in a while.

Here are my shots of the pier and then on the pier!

    Amazing picture.

If I could give you one bit of advice, it doesn't have to do with the photo but with the watermark. I can easily crop it out and re-use the photo if I wanted to. Try using an almost see-through watermark in the middle like this :)

Love the framing and composition of this photo. The colors are great as well. My only critique although unwarranted is to perhaps bring the luminance down just a bit as to show some noise. The photo seems almost too surreal. Unless that's the look you were going for which in that case. Great job!

This is so beautiful! The perspective, the light, the colour, the lone rider on a winding road -- it's perfect. However, I do wish the foreground wasn't there. I'd say it's worth removing it in post if you have a few shots you can clone from. Well done though regardless.
