I didn't believe the manual when it said 80 hours. I scoffed. And then I too couldn't find the charging cable.

You don't have an extra mini-USB cable lying around? I have approximately 8,000 of them.

Hopefully I have this problem with the switch pro controller

I would put the charging cable away in a box of shit I never used in my closet. I actively used my Wii U for two years and maybe charged it 5-6 times. Best battery life I have gotten from a controller by far.

The switch pro controller is good too, but I keep it close by I have already charged it three times in the 6 months I've had it.

    ...now my PS4 controller tho.

Scanned the title too quickly and thought it said,

"First World War II Pro Controller Problems"

Yeah you had problems, the freaking Nazi's were invading Poland and you were playing games you slob!

Nintendo makes amazing controllers. Best in the business.

Put in 100+ hours in Zelda and only charged it once. Love this controller!

Why are the buttons below the right stick. Why!?

Anyone know if there's a way if I can use these controllers for PC?

I don't use my WiiU anymore but these controllers are too good not to use..

  • BleedsWine

Same with the switch pro haha

  • Justagigjob

I still haven't charged mine since this was first posted.

  • jonstarks

I just leave the cable plugged into the ps3, those controllers die faster

Love this controller, use it for my pc. It's crazy how long the battery life is, I charge it like once a month.

  • mattstreet

Pretty confusing why it isn't supported by the switch though. It's not like it doesn't have the right buttons.

  • hamcoremusic

Its insane that the Pro Controller (from Wii U or even the Switch) can outrun an PS4 controller by ~48h-78h and an XBONE controller by like ~20-40h. What the hell is Microsoft and Sony doing?

  • ambi94

Luckily it's a pretty common cable too. PS3 used it, my microphone uses it, and an old camera I had used it.

  • AstronautGuy42

Oh yeah, same thing with the PS4 controller. Totally....

  • dimnikar

That's all well and good, but I just played through God of War Collection: Volume 2 on PS3 one one charge with my original PS3 controller. Granted, Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Spart aren't super long games, still pretty good for such an old pad.

  • Xose_48

Lol, is it just mine then that only lasts for like 2 hours?I'm still doubting if all this post is just sarcastic or wtf.

  • CreativelySeeking

We had this exact thing happen!

    Can confirm. Awesome controller.

Just do like I do and scavenge from the printer and old routers sitting around the house. You know things that use the odd 2008ish USB.

I started playing Zelda: BotW with a fully charged Pro Controller on my WiiU.

I shit you not, 75 hours 3 divine beasts and exactly 3 months later, the low battery icon pops up.

That was two weeks ago, I've been running this thing on fumes and it still has juice, by the goddess.

  • brodiee3

I thought it was just my controller.....lol

  • Mitoni

Luckily my Google pixel uses the same charging cable, so I always know where mine is.

  • suugakusha

As opposed to the PS4 controller ... which doesn't come with a charging cable.

Sony: "You are gonna want 3 or 4 controllers, but you'd never want to charge them at the same time, right?"

  • GameCubeSpice

    That's a good problem I'd say.

  • SchleftySchloe

I bought a nintendo just to play BOTW. The buttons constantly fuck me. Its like they switched them around just enough to destroy the muscle memory of someone used to xbox controllers.

It's actually the wiiu controllers mainboard that is battery efficient, I wired a battery from a Wii u controller into my ps4 controller and the battery life is actually even worse than the standard 15 minutes.

They need to make phone batteries

Unless you're an idiot like me and leave it plugged in for a week straight. Didn't know batteries can expand that large!

RIP Wii U Pro controller. You were a rockstar for those two weeks I had you :(

  • jerslan

Apple TV remote is the same way.... I forgot it even needs occasional charging until I got the low-battery notice for the first time in a long while.

  • DillyDally4114

For real though I used the Wii U pro charging cable more to charge my PS3 controllers than the actually Wii U pro controller

  • Tonto115

This is also true for my graphing calculator, I end up having to buy a new cable every 3 months

  • jawsomesauce

How does the Switch pro controller compare?

  • TeslaK20

Ah, the Wii U. Ye shall be remembered as a classic nostalgia console. <3

  • workinprogress4

I love my WiiU Pro Controller

  • openletter8

...and the Wii U pad has a 45 minute battery. You win some, you lose some.

  • CtrlAltGamer

Just leave it plugged into the Wii U, that's what I did.

  • PeacefulDays

the batteries for the pro controller outlived the console.

  • GamebitX

The best Nintendo controller i’ve ever used. Found it the other day under my couch and it had spider webs all over it lol.

  • juhaszmark

I didn't choose the battery life, the battery life chose me

  • thisonetimeonreddit

Talk to me about your battery life in 6 months, it's still new.

That's how batteries work. That 80 hours will be down to 8 hours in a year.

  • Jameswashere310

I don't get why people here get 10hr battery life for PS4 controllers, mines lasts for days and I play for about 5hrs a day

  • tychog99

Bro this thing somehow looks like it ripped off xbox and playstation's controller design and I love it

  • Groenboys

I love the wii u, but the gamepad was the biggest obstacle.

  • Polengoldur

more like "i've played this thing so little i have no clue where the charger cable is"

  • Tomincanada

Let's be honest here.. the main reason charging isnt an issue is there isn't more than 80 hours of gaming to be had on a wii-u.

  • BBToast

Well considering the handful of games the Wii u had that I would play, it should last the few years until the switch came out.

  • RectumExplorer--

Pretty hard to drain a controller if there's no games for the console.

  • Tasty_Chick3n

Holy crap didn’t know the pro had such long battery life. Now for sure I’ll get one whenever RL comes out.

  • RavenCyarm

You left it next to the good Wii U games.

Yeah, I don't know where you'd find those either.
