I love to play this with one of mine, she gets massively into it. Then I wonder why she attacks my feet when I'm asleep and she's bored. The thing is, she is clever enough to know I'm not playing, I'm sleeping. But she's rude...

But I am addicted to that silly face of impending murder, so it will continue

I had cats like that; my first (and so far only) cats were only a year older than me. They were like kitty parents and siblings and pets all in one. It's so hard to explain to people who didn't have that kind of thing. I'm so, so sorry.

Look at those eyes. She knows how much you love her.

Nothing will ever be able to replace her, but when you're ready don't be afraid to get another kitty to live alongside her in your heart.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I grew up with my black cats from age 5 until they passed when I was in college. It truly is like the loss of a family member. They are our playmates, confidants and protectors! Your cat was beautiful!

This was the same as my childhood pet. She passed away when I was 18. I was heart broken. For days after, I was walking into the kitchen confused as to why her bowl wasn't there. I would wake up, look for her at the bottom of the bed and the pain would set back in. I hope you're okay! Know that she had a happy and full life and I know for certain she will be looking down on you from heaven! Proud of her human! My sincerest condolences to you, however!

I know them feels all too well

My parents had gotten a cat just before I was born, but she ended up going to live with my Auntie, cause she would would sleep in the crib with me and my parents were afraid she would smother me.

But when I was older she made her way back to our home and ended up living till she was 21.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your pet/family member. I'm sure you've got so many memories to cherish.

I had to put my 9 year old pup down a couple months ago. My mom passed away a year and a half ago at only 47, and he was her baby. He was more than a family pet - he was a member of our family, as I'm sure your kitty was. When my mom was very sick and on constant oxygen, she often would toss off her canula in her sleep (she was claustrophobic, it was difficult for her). Without training he somehow knew that was wrong, and would cry loudly, running up and down the stairs to wake me or my brother up to come fix it. And after she passed, he knew how to comfort me. He could sense somehow that I needed it when I did. Losing him was one of the more difficult events of my life.

You'll always have those memories, and your beloved cat will be part of you forever. I hope you can keep feeling that love through the heartbreak of it.

I'm sorry for your loss. It's so difficult losing a loved pet you've had all your life.. We had to put down our 22 year old boy when I was 21.. it felt like I lost part of myself that day. It gets better, remember the happy days, and how you made her life better and how you made her feel loved and cherished. She'll always be there with you in some way, either in memory or spirit, or both, whatever you prefer. She's a beautiful cat.

We recently lost our oldest cat and it's a devastating blow to the heart. I am truly sorry for the pain you feel right now, but as she was only able to love you part of your life; you were there to love her all of hers. So you can hopefully take some comfort, albeit small, in knowing all she knew was love.

I'm sorry for your loss! Tessa looked like a very sweet girl! I had a similar experience, my cat Pebbles was a year older than me. She was at home when I was born and since I was a new addition she didn't exactly like me. It took her awhile to warm up to me, but she was always my big sister. She passed away at 19 back in 2013. It's hard losing a pet you have had around for almost your whole life or even your whole life. But, they're happy and healthy now up in heaven without any age restricting illnesses affecting them. Also, even though she may be physically no longer here, Tessa will always live on through your memories!

  • LPHaddleburg
    2 points Jan 09,2017, 12:55pm

The beauty of it is that she lived with you as you grew. She was and will always be there with you, only now in a different form. She's waiting somewhere for you. Everyday, see her in your laughs and loves, your tears and smiles. She is your happiness and joy. She is good health to you. You'll see her again, maybe in another animal, maybe in a feeling, or maybe in a fleeting memory of something that was and never will be again. But she'll be there, like always, by your side, remembering how much you loved her when she shared the earth with you.

I am heartbroken for you. Please know that I wish you all the happiness the world as to give until you can move forward on your own. I wish you peace and comfortable and the assurance that, through the love you gave, you gave everything for something outside yourself. That is the ultimate virtue, one she shared with you as much as you shared with her.

Sleep well, Tessa. Enjoy the Rainbow Bridge. Tell Allie I say "Hi" and that I miss her everyday. Give her a rub for me.

My childhood cat passed away four years ago. She was older than me. She was 15 too. Every single memory I had Lucy was alive. She was a grumpy cat. Tiny and fierce who didn't take nonsense from anyone. If I messed with her, she bit me and told me off. But even though she was an old grumpy cat, she was very loving. My family has so many stories of her. I'm rambling, but I did want to say don't be afraid to get another cat. It's no disrespect to your old cat. Each cat has its own personality.

I am sorry for the loss of your family member. My first cat was older than my parent's marriage, he was a constant fixture in my young life, it's amazing how many photos he is in, casually being part of the family.

I know you won't ever forget her, and I hope the pain fades but the memories remain clear and sharp.

Awww, so sorry for your loss! I lost my sweet boy Shadow on Thanksgiving day. He was only 7 1/2 years old. I swore we wouldn't be getting another cat. But my son wanted one. We went and adopted a little black kitten two days before new years day. I'm glad we did too! She's so sweet!

I got my baby when I was I first grade. He passed away a few years ago, and my husband and I have a new fur baby. I love my current cat, but my baby from first grade and I had a special bond: he saw me through schooling and even my wedding day.

The pain will get easier, but you will never forget and never stop thinking about them.

About seven years ago we took in a stray who rambled our property. He'd gotten hurt badly and the vet informed us he had FIV so he shouldn't be outside. Not a problem as all our other cats were FIV+.

The problem was he was an outdoor cat all his life up to that point. He's the sweetest cat in the world but never had been a litter pan user. After about a week of accidents in the house my oldest cat started using the new cat's litter pan.

Soon the new cat would watch him and then hop in. He would dig around and then jump out and pee. So Zeke (my old man cat) would jump back in, meow, and pinch something out. Like, "Dude, no. It's in the box. You're going to get us all in trouble."

#12 Murray The Cat, the best dog we've ever had

Cats

COMMENTS

  • Arizona-Willie

We had a Garfield cat like that and I called it my "puppy-cat" because he would play fetch by the hour. He came when called and just acted more like a dog than a cat. He loved for you to throw a ball or wadded up piece of paper ( his favorite ) and he would have you looking to hide it so he couldn't bring it back to you. He never got tired of the game. I will always miss Freddie.

iirc while dogs might be programmed by humans to give you attention, a cat doing the same means they really mean it
